Where can I find the list of the remaining 36 players? And when is the next cut down day?
Thanks! |

What would have been the downside of giving Kosorenkov a contract? |

One more contract slot to take away from Jagr?
Honestly, I don't think it would have been that bad. Guy looked pretty good from the little that I saw. |

I am surprised. ll reports seemed to indicate he was handling himself well and one of the better players through camp.
Maybe they are leaving some contract spots open in case a guy like Allison leaves Western Michigan after the season? Don't know. I thought they had about 4 contract slots. |

I guess its still possible they give him a contract. In reality if the Flyers cut him couldn't he move over to another team for try-out instead of going back to juniors? Maybe the Flyers have a deal in mind and are just waiting. |

That's what happened with Myers and Calgary, although he then attended Flyers camp after leaving Calgary's. |

According to Cap Friendly they have 6 available slots.

At least it wasn't sanheim that pinched too far in OT, He looked fantastic in his lone 3 on 3 shift. I am kind of happy they put amac out there and (if they had to lose) it would be his fualt. |

Provy Sanheim and Morin were the three best defenders tonight.
Hagg looked shaky at times, but settled it. Had fits with the puck on his stick early on, but seemed to settle a bit.
Gudas was his typical Dump Truck self.. He had a solid game with a few exceptions (including getting walked big time by Marchand).

From Bill's blog: Finally, after an ill-advised pinch by Flyers veteran defenseman Andrew MacDonald
Those who've been here a while know my feelings on AMac, to sum up, IMO, he's an overpaid 4/5 Dman. I have seen enough of Sanheim to be able to say the following about him. He's no worse than AMac defensively, he's physically as strong or stronger than AMac, he's a better skater than AMac and he's a much more dynamic offensive player than AMac.
When you factor in the number of powerplays that we are likely to see in the early part of the season and the challenges that this team has had in generating offense at ES, there is no reason that AMac should be in the lineup over Sanheim, none. Provorov, Ghost and Gudas are locks and Hagg has looked fantastic as well. Morin too has looked very good and should be a big part of the PK as well. I know Hextall hates to risk losing anyone, but sometimes you need to put your best players in the lineup and take some risks. The 6 Dmen who should be in the opening night lineup are Provorov, Ghost, Gudas, Hagg, Morin and Sanheim.
That leaves Hextall with some choices:
He can waive and demote AMac. No one is taking his contract on waivers so this would be the "safest" move. However, AMac is, without question, an NHL Dman and a better all around player than Manning. The only advantage Manning has over AMac is in physical play and with both Gudas and Morin on the roster, it's just not a factor.
He can trade or waive Manning. I know he doesn't want to lose him for nothing and maybe someone with injuries on D will give you a 7th rounder for him. If not, waive him and if you lose him so be it. Right now, he's 8th on the D depth chart and, once Myers gets some experience, will probably fall to 9th. You can find and acquire the Brandon Mannings of the world if you need one without giving up anything of real value.
At the end of the day, sending Sanheim down to keep a lesser player in the lineup and a journeyman protected from waivers is just foolish.

AMac pinches just as G gets beat. Perfect storm. - dragonoffrost
It was a 3v3 OT, Flyers had possession and G was making his line to the net when Jake turned it over. G did nothing wrong there.
The play started to fall apart when Jake slowed down as he gained the blue line.. then he compounded it by trying to be cute and dangle a bit.. He had been picked clean earlier in the 3v3 trying to do a similar move.. must be something he is working on..
The big mistake was the total lack of positional awareness Mac showed on the play. You know your far side forward is driving the net when the puck was turned over. You see the play in front of you. YOU NEVER pinch there. Super high risk play, with a relatively low reward. He was never going to get possession, best outcome was he blocks the pass..
He does what infuriates me the most, halfheartedly commits to the wrong choice. Weak effort and flat out wrong decision and Agostino is off to the races.
Ive seen a few people blame G for "losing his man".. He didnt turn the puck over. He didnt make a ridiculous pinch. |

Ugh, I've had enough of Weise. From what I've seen both Lehtera and Laughton and heck even Leier have looked better than Weise. For the most part I like your roster, but I'd tweak it a bit and go with:
Lindblom-G-Jake
Raffl-Coots-Konecny
Weal-Patrick-Simmonds
Lehtera-Laughton-Filppula
spares: Weise and Read
1st call up: wing-Leier, center-Vecchione
Provorov-Gudas
Sanheim-Hagg
Morin-Ghost
spare: AMac
traded or waived: Manning
1st call up: if available Manning, if not Myers
Elliott

At this point, I'd keep Leier up over Read. Read's main asset was his speed, which was what allowed him (along with his IQ) to make good PK reads and generate scoring chances. Now that his speed's gone, his game is very pedestrain. Leier's speed and forechecking have been impressive, at least for a bottom-6 role. |

I'd only keep Leier if they plan on playing him every night. If not, I'd rather see him playing every night at LHV. I don't expect the 14th forward is going to play that much, so Read should be perfect for that role. If a couple guys get hurt, I could see them bringing Leier up and playing him before Read though.
The only way I'd keep Leier as a spare is if they think there is a legit risk that they will lose him on waivers. If that's the case then yeah, by all means, waive Read.

I factored in the eating AMac's salary to send him to Allentown in keeping Weise and also allowed for the chemistry (read lucky bounces off his body) that he and Coots had at the end of the season last year. We all know vets don't always give preseason a full effort. AMac knew he had to compete I'm not so sure Weise was 100% in competition for his slot.
I'd be fine with either roster. I just want the 6 D listed along with Patrick and Lindbolm on the opening night roster.
I'm done with Read and would waive him hoping someone claims him. Don't really need 2 in the Cote Suite. And I could see swapping Leier and Laughton. They are about the same to me I was rewarding Leier for finding the back of the net.
